History

  • Department of Commerce Guru Nanak College started its journey in the year 1970, with the establishment of the college. The Department offers studies of B.Com (Honours) and B.Com (General) Degree programme under CBCS(Choice Based Credit System). Presently, our College and Department of Commerceis affiliated under Binod Bihari Mahto Koyalanchal University, Dhanbad.

    The department has resourceful & efficient faculty and is the largest department with highest student strength in the college. The department aims to fulfil the needs of the students from time to time by teaching through conventional and ICT enabled methods, The department not only covers the Commerce courses but also caters to the needs of the students of B.A. (Prog.) by offering discipline courses in Accounting and Finance, Management and Entrepreneurship.

    The B.Com(Hons.)/B.Com(General) course comprise of various unique subjects viz. Corporate Accounting, Management Accounting, Business and Corporate Law, Marketing, Taxation, Entrepreneurship, Financial Management, Human Resource management etc. which empower them to handle the challenges of global business environment. The Commerce education also opens further avenues in academic as well as professional fronts. Courses like M.Com, CA, CMA, CFA, CS, MBA, etc. can be pursued after their three year graduation degree. Having completed the Commerce education, students can choose a career of academics or business professional.

    The Department is led under true guidance of Dr. Sanjay Prasad, the Principal of the college and by Seven full-time teachers comprises of both highly experienced as well as young enthusiasts which ensures smooth teaching-learning process in the department. The Department has a diligent and dedicated team of teachers who assiduously guide the students in their respective courses.
